A Mess of Things

It’s time to clock in and put on your hard hat! Factory life may not always be the most exciting, but you find it suits you just fine. The simple artistry of the machines is awe-inspiring, as they work together in harmony to produce wonderful and complex products. You look forward to another day as a part of something great.

But something has gone horribly wrong! All of the products are mixed up, and it’s up to you to fix it! You’ll need to work together with the other players, cooperating to work the machines, repair the damage, and set everything right. However, there can only be one winner. Plan your moves carefully, and try to predict what the other players will do in order to come out on top in the end. In Mess Machine, cleaning up a mess has never been so fun!

Clean Up Your Act

In Mess Machine, you play as a factory worker attempting to clean up the mess malfunctioning machines have left behind. The products the factory produces are all mixed up and can’t ship out in their current state! You and your fellow factory workers will have to band together to fix this disastrous mess.

It’s every player’s job to try and solve the puzzle they’re presented with, working together to get everything cleaned up. But, it wouldn’t be any fun if that were all there was to the game.

Work Together, Win Alone

While players are tasked with working together, there’s only one winner in the end. Everyone wants to make sure the puzzle is solved because it will mean more points are awarded at the end of the game, and victory goes to the person who has the most points. So, how do players earn points?

Choices, Choices

At the beginning of the game, each player has four differently colored buttons, each with a different letter from A to D. Each player will select two of those buttons to put face down in front of them. One will be their Direct Button, indicated by placing a Direct Button marker on their choice, and the other will be their Indirect Button. Players should think carefully about which buttons to chose, because they’ll earn points at the end of the game for each button token they have which matches their Direct Button, and points for each button marker their opponents have which matches their Indirect Button. But, what do the button markers do?

Who’s Got the Button?

When a player takes their turn, they must choose which the of the four buttons to press, represented by taking the corresponding button token from the board. Each button will allow the player to switch two tiles in the puzzle, but each choice does it in a different way. When one of the buttons runs out of button markers, that choice may no longer be made. This could result in the puzzle being unsolvable, ending the game and ensuring players will earn points only for their Indirect Button.

Picture Perfect

However, should the players succeed in solving the puzzle before them, the full amount of points is given out, and the winner can be crowned. Each player will gain points for their Direct and Indirect Buttons, in addition to the points they received during the game for putting pieces of the puzzle in the correct place. The player with the most points after everything has been tallied is the winner!
