Freight Cars is the newest game in the Quick Simple Fun Games lineup. It’s a 2-4 player game that lasts about 30 minutes and features tile placement and delivery fulfillment mechanics, with a futuristic train theme.
As a shipping company, how are you supposed to maximize your profits? Well, you will need to synergize your deliveries, intelligently pack each of your shipping units, and do all of this better and faster than the competition. Interestingly enough, that’s what you need to do in the newest addition to the Quick Simple Fun Games lineup, Freight Cars!
In our new board game, Freight Cars, two to four players will take on the role of a corporation attempting to make the most money from shipping goods across North America. While it sounds like your standard “fulfill deliveries with train shipments” game, we have a new and exciting twist on the genre!
Your company’s train is a series of cards depicting different types of freight cars. On each card is a block puzzle representing a specific type of good needing to be shipped. Players use their limited pool of Tetris™-style puzzle pieces to fill as many freight cars as possible, before they send the train out for delivery.
In addition, cities across the country have made special requests and are willing to pay top dollar for them. St. Louis needs livestock and oil, Detroit needs oil, medicine, and livestock, and New York City needs oil and medicine; will you be able to balance these three types of goods and get everything delivered on time?
You also gain a scoring bonus at the end of the game from your corporation’s specialty. Lansing Shipping Inc. deals in tech, Big Bear Shipping Inc. works with oil, and Orchid Shipping Inc. will give you credits for everything you can send!
The key to winning is to balance the timing of your shipments with the needs of the cities, your corporation’s specialty, while being mindful of your cars’ capacities.
If you are a fan of train games, puzzle games, or games with great art, and are looking to add to your collection, Freight Cars is the game for you! We feel that the 3D puzzle element adds a twist on the train game genre that will please existing fans and delight new ones.
You can purchase Freight Cars online at Amazon, or at your local friendly gaming store!
